Downtown streets to close Dec. 6, 7

AUBURN, Ala.- Downtown streets will close for holiday events on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 6-7, including:
Saturday, Dec. 6: Jingle Jog 5K & Santa Stroll
Auburn Parks and Recreation's Jingle Jog 5K & Santa Stroll will begin at 6:30 a.m. in downtown Auburn. Downtown streets will close at 5 a.m. and reopen around 9 a.m. College Street will be closed from Thach to Tichenor avenues and Magnolia Avenue will be closed from Gay to Wright streets. Vehicles parked along the street will be unable to leave until the streets have reopened.
Sunday, Dec. 7: Holiday Fair and Market
The Downtown Merchants Association will host the Holiday Market from noon to 4 p.m. East Magnolia Avenue between College and Gay streets will close at 10 a.m. All vehicles must be removed from on-street parking on East Magnolia by 11 a.m. Any vehicles remaining after that time will be towed at the owner's expense. Parking will be gradually coned off starting at 9 a.m. East Magnolia will reopen following the event and cleanup.
Sunday, Dec. 7: Auburn Christmas Parade
The Downtown Merchants Association's Auburn Christmas Parade will be held at 2 p.m. The parade will begin at the intersection of Thach Avenue and South College Street, travel east on Thach Avenue to Gay Street, north to Tichenor Avenue, west to College Street and south back to Thach Avenue.
Downtown streets along the route will close at noon. All vehicles must be removed from on-street parking along the parade route by 1 p.m. Any vehicles remaining after that time will be towed at the owner's expense. Parking will be gradually coned off starting at 11 a.m. Streets will reopen after the parade and cleanup.
